For the eighth straight year, October is Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com, presented by Locavore, the newest restaurant at Potawatomi Hotel & Casino. All month, we're stuffed with restaurant reviews, delectable features, chef profiles and unique articles on everything food, as well as the winners of our "Best of Dining 2014."

According to former Odd Duck chef Shay Linkus, The Vanguard, a new restaurant at 2659 S. Kinnickinnic Ave., has passed inspections and should be opening in the next few weeks.

The restaurant concept, which we announced in April, is a collaboration between Chris Schulist, Jim McCann, and Linkus, that aims to pay homage to the Milwaukee "corner bar" experience.

Sausages will be a main feature, with both traditional and unique varieties -- like the piri piri and Vietnamese flavors served recently at the Bay View Bash.

The restaurant will also feature a selection of 12 beers on tap, as well as cocktails.

Vanguard will serve the late-night crowd by serving food daily until 2 a.m.

Watch OnMilwaukee.com for additional details as they are available.
