Former Brewers TV announcer Matt Vasgersian will be broadcasting NFL games for Fox Sports this season.

One of his first assignments was slated to be a trip to Lambeau Field for the Saints-Packers game on Sept. 17. New Orleans running back Reggie Bush playing his second regular-season game in a historic stadium against the Green and Gold -- it would have been perfect...

But, the assignment got switched.

Vasgersian, whose contract with the San Diego Padres expires after the season, hopes to sign an extension to that deal soon but also likes doing football for the network. He called four NFL games last season. This year, he'll be paired with JC Pearson, a former NFL player, and sideline reporter Jay Glazer.

"Matt is one of the outstanding young play-by-play broadcasters in the country," Fox Sports President Ed Goren told the San Diego Union-Tribune. "We've been looking for an opportunity to bring him on board."

Fox's other broadcast teams: Joe Buck, Troy Aikman and Pam Oliver (sideline); Dick Stockton, Daryl Johnston and Tony Siragusa (sideline); Kenny Albert,  Brian Baldinger and Chris Myers (sideline); Sam Rosen and Tim Ryan; Ron Pitts and Terry Donahue.
