Fond Du Lac's Verona Grove flew out to the West Coast last year to record an album with Pat's Record Company in hopes of making it big.

This year, they band is banking on the Big Mac.

Verona Grove is one of a handful of bands participating in McDonald's Big Mac Chant-off -- a clever scheme to sell more Macs and give some bands a little attention -- and is one of seven artists, including Christina Milian, Pacific Division, Upground, Chris Hennessee, The Procession and the Far East Movement, featured on the Big Mac Chant MySpace.

Here is how the boys from Wisconsin put a spin on "Two all beef patties, blah blah blah."

The winner of this battle of the jingle remixes, announced July 22, will be featured in a McDonald's commercial airing in late July.

You want in? You can submit your own track until July 6.

Julie Lawrence Special to OnMilwaukee.com

OnMilwaukee.com staff writer Julie Lawrence grew up in Wauwatosa and has lived her whole life in the Milwaukee area.

As any “word nerd” can attest, you never know when inspiration will strike, so from a very early age Julie has rarely been seen sans pen and little notebook. At the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee it seemed only natural that she major in journalism. When OnMilwaukee.com offered her an avenue to combine her writing and the city she knows and loves in late 2004, she knew it was meant to be. Around the office, she answers to a plethora of nicknames, including “Lar,” (short for “Larry,” which is short for “Lawrence”) as well as the mysteriously-sourced “Bill Murray.”
