There are several ways to find news. At OnMilwaukee.com we don't wait for a news release to show up in our e-mail in box, we explore, interact, ask questions and sometimes just take a walk.

My weekend walks around Downtown yielded a few "scoops," and here they are.

White Star -- White Star is coming to 524 N. Water St. It will be the first men's clothing store on that Water St. strip that's mainly housed variations of Fred, an affordable women's clothing boutique. Expect "denim, tees, undergear, dress shirts, accessories and more." For more information call (414) 226-0114. Target opening day is May 1.

Fill-A-Pita -- New at Azmi Alaeddin's Aladdin Tastes of the East at the Milwaukee Public Market is a build-your-own pita sandwich station. For only $5.55 you get one filling (falafel, veggies, mozzarella, turkey or chicken), a choice of spread or dressing and two vegetables. It's a great, new grab-and-go addition to the market.

Wells St. traffic lights -- Wells St., through Downtown, at Plankinton has its traffic signals flashing (at least for a few more days) as work continues on the Wisconsin Ave. bridge. This slows traffic and helps soften the extra volume of cars that have been rerouted from Wisconsin Ave. It's also a nice change for pedestrians since the street is typically driven on way too quickly. Plans are still in the works to change Wells St. to two-way traffic. This change should also slow down the traffic.

Killer geese! -- A sign cautioning "Geese on the Riverwalk" caught my attention. Geese can be mean and loud, and sometimes stubborn so I guess it's only fitting that the building owners are cautioning us about their presence. Beware as you walk around Downtown.
