Nature is healing; the WAMI Awards are back.
Yes, after a hiatus last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the statewide music awards show will return for its 40th edition on Sunday, Oct. 17 at Turner Hall Ballroom.
The show – originally scheduled for April last year – will provide its annual celebration of local music's finest, with honors spread across 36 categories along with WAMI's People's Choice award and special Hall of Fame inductions.
"In addition, the show will celebrate the return of Wisconsin music and its resilience after a difficult year for musicians, venues and many others associated with the industry," WAMI President Zoy Begos said, in a release.
Tickets for the awards show – costing $25 for general admission and $45 for VIP tickets complete with table seating – are available at the Pabst Theater Group box office and website.
For more information on the show and nominees, visit WAMI's website. And while you're waiting for the awards to start, peruse the nominees you voted for in the People's Choice Award category.

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
