The Milwaukee County War Memorial has acquired a piece of steel from the World Trade Center that will be unveiled on Sunday, Sept. 11 to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks. It will later be installed in a permanent memorial there.
The unveiling will take place at a solemn anniversary ceremony from 7:30 to 8:15 a.m. on the War Memorial's Fitch Plaza, 750 N. Lincoln Memorial Dr. The piece of steel will later become part of the War Memorial's permanent collection and placed on display.
The artifact is expected to arrive at the War Memorial on Friday, Sept. 9.
