The Brewers placed second basemen Rickie Weeks on the 15-day disabled list Monday with a sprained left knee.

Weeks was examined in Milwaukee today by team physician Dr. William Raasch. He was injured Friday night after a rough play at second base in Colorado. Rockies infielder Jeff Baker slid into second trying to break up a double-play. Weeks finished the game, but was held out of the lineup Saturday and Sunday, after the leg had stiffened.

He traveled with the team to Houston following Sunday's game, but remained on the team charter when it returned to Milwaukee for what the team called, at the time, a precautionary examination.

Weeks is struggling at the plate this season, batting just .210. Still, though, he had a .325 on-base percentage and was among the league leaders with 43 runs scored.

To take Weeks' place on the roster, Hernan Iribarren will be recalled from Class AAA Nashville and join the team tomorrow in Houston.
