The Wells Street bridge in Downtown Milwaukee will remain closed at least through tomorrow, Sept. 16, and most likely several days after.
Commissioner of Public Works Ghassan Korban, P.E., told the Westown Association that the City is "waiting for parts which we could not find anywhere in the U.S. and had to go overseas to find them." The parts are due on the 16th and the City hopes "to replace the failed parts shortly after."
The bridge has to be the "open" position in order to comply with federal regulations in maintaining a navigable channel for commerce.
