Just when you thought it was safe to listen to "God's Plan" without getting red in the face.
Today marks the second day of Drakegate, and now TV host Wendy Williams has gotten involved and drawn the not-undeserved wrath of Bucks Twitter.
During today's taping of "The Wendy Williams Show," the popular host got to chatting with her audience about Drake's controversial courtside behavior cheering on the Raptors – and then some – during Game 4 in Toronto.
The whole thing starts fairly innocuous, with Williams getting some laughs from the rapper's overly excited sideline fangasms. It's not in the below clip, but she says she likes Drake and that attempting to distract or gain an edge over your opponent at home is fine. And that's a totally valid – and frankly, not wrong – take on the situation!
But then she set Milwaukee and the Bucks in her sights, and things went sideways.
Apparently @WendyWilliams does not know who @AaronRodgers12 is? She needs to escape her bubble and let google be her friend! The @Bucks we’re established in the 1960’s as a franchise. Ignorant people with overvalued opinions! @BucksBango get her! #FearTheDeer #Bucksin6 pic.twitter.com/uopjSKIo9Q — Sammy Thomas (@SammyTh77008697) May 23, 2019
OK, fine, Milwaukee may not have the star-studded sidelines of Los Angeles, New York or even Toronto. (Though Gucci Mane was representing the good guys at Game 3 – in enemy territory at that!)
But "Congratulations on the newness of your team"? The Milwaukee Bucks have existed since 1968 – unlike the Raptors, who as a franchise is barely old enough to legally drink.
The Bucks have won a championship – as opposed to the Raptors, who've never won an NBA Finals, much less even made it that far in the playoffs. But other than that, right on the money, Wendy. I get that you don't host "First Take" and that in-depth sports talk is likely rare on the show – but that's why god invented Google.
Anyways, The Great Kiki Conflict has gone on long enough. Here's to the Bucks shutting up Drake and the Raptors in six, beginning tonight at Fiserv Forum.
As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
