West Allis Cheese & Sausage Shoppe will open its third area location this spring at 2974 N. Oakland Ave., a site most recently occupied by Bella's Fat Cat.

The deli and mail order business has been serving fine cheeses, meats and more for more than 40 years from its original store at 6832 W. Becher St. and its newer location inside the Milwaukee Public Market.

Signs are up at the Oakland Avenue location, and according to its Facebook page and co-owner Linda Lutz the store will have "a cafe and deli, and even serve custard."  The post says there's not "an exact opening date yet, but it looks like it will be in March."  "We're hoping in March sometime," Lutz confirmed via e-mail.
