If you made a New Year's resolution, it probably involved diet and/or fitness. Whether you're still in high gear or your motivation is flagging, here are two free apps that can help stay (or get back on!) track.
My Fitness Pal
The main thing I like about My Fitness Pal is calorie tracking. It gives you a calorie total based on your height, weight and what you're looking to do: lose weight, maintain weight or gain weight (yes, some people actually need to gain!). Figuring out how many calories you're eating is usually a pain, but with My Fitness Pal you can scan the barcode of what you're eating and My Fitness Pal will import the calories for you. You can also add calorie information based on ingredients if you're cooking from scratch.
Map My Fitness
Map My Fitness has a family of apps to track your workouts. I use Map My Run to keep track of my running "exploits." It tracks where you run and gives you a map and summary once you're done. Total distance, time, pace per mile, elevation, and a host of other stats are at your fingertips. You have the option to share your workout on social media or keep it in the records for yourself.
No matter what your resolutions were, I hope they're going well! Keep up the good work; you can do it!
