And ... action! With the announcement of the nominations last month, the march to the 2020 Oscars has officially begun. And with that comes the only good homework that's ever existed: seeing the nominated films and performances before the celebs start announcing the actual winners on Sunday.
To help out, here's a list of all the nominees and where you can find them – whether on the big screen or on your small screens at home – before Hollywood's shiniest evening. A reminder: Several Marcus Theatres locations and the AMC Mayfair are hosting marathons of this year's Best Picture nominees so check your local theater's listings to when each festival is taking place and what days will be dedicated to which films. (Thanks to the never-ending petty standoff between theater chains and Netflix, however, "The Irishman" and "Marriage Story" aren't participating, so you'll have to make your own double feature at home to see them all.)
And are you a real Academy Awards completist? Then don't forget about the nominated short films as well, which are on deck to arrive at several Milwaukee theaters – including several Marcus locations, the AMC Mayfair, the Oriental and the Downer – before the Oscars.
Now it's time to dig into all these films like Brandy the pit bull on a can of Wolf's Tooth dog food or Rick Dalton with a blender full of margaritas. Enjoy – and we'll see you at the movies!

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
