forecast, even guess what the weather may bring. But Milwaukeeans know there is
one special place for weather information -- The Wisconsin Gas Building, downtown
at 626 E. Wisconsin Ave.
We are sure that you have seen the building. But do you know what the different colors on the building's flickering flame mean? The flame, on the top of the building, holds the key to tomorrow's weather.
Nothing against our city's wonderful weather guys, but the Wisconsin Gas Building does a pretty good job with its weather prognostication. The next time you are downtown, look up at the Wisconsin Gas flame and use the following poem to formulate your forecast for the next day:
When the flame is red, it's warm weather ahead.
When the flame is gold, watch out for cold.
When the flame is blue, there's no change in view.
Where there's agitation, expect precipitation.

A life-long and passionate community leader and Milwaukeean, Jeff Sherman is a co-founder of OnMilwaukee.

He owns a condo in Downtown and lives in greater Milwaukee with his wife Stephanie, his son, Jake, and daughter Pierce. He's a political, music, sports and news junkie and thinks, for what it's worth, that all new movies should be released in theaters, on demand, online and on DVD simultaneously.
