Free stuff is always nice, particularly during tough economic times.

Bruce Springsteen's new single "Working on a Dream," the title track of a new CD that hits stores Jan. 27, is available for free download today at the iTunes store and brucespringsteen.net.

It'll be a paid download in the iTunes store beginning tomorrow through Dec. 9.

Springsteen recorded "Working on a Dream" with the E Street Band during breaks on the recently completed "Magic" tour and it features 12 new songs and a bonus track. The single, a mid-tempo song with acoustic guitars, is a sweeping, somewhat dreamy and "Pet Sounds"-inspired feel like several of the songs on "Magic."

Springsteen is slated to perform at halftime of the Super Bowl Feb. 1 in Tampa. He debuted "Working on a Dream" during a rally for Barack Obama last month in Columbus, Ohio. Here is a look at that version:
