The Milwaukee Writers Workshop will launch WriteCamp, the first free writing conference of its kind in the Midwest, on June 6, at Mercy Hill church at The Hide House, 2625 S. Greeley St.

The free event runs from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and offers a day of writing workshops, presentations, networking opportunities and food. Keynote speakers include writers Mike Magnuson and Karolis Gintaras Zukauskas. Plus, all participants are invited to present their ideas during open sessions.

Writers can attend the entire event or a portion of the 13-hour WriteCamp.

"We are excited to bring WriteCamp to Milwaukee," says Milwaukee Writers Workshop founder James Boone Dryden.

"There is a void of free writing resources in our region, and writecamp addresses that void by bringing together writers from multiple genres to share ideas, network and hone their craft in a friendly, collaborative environment."

Molly Snyder started writing and publishing her work at the age 10, when her community newspaper printed her poem, "The Unicorn.” Since then, she's expanded beyond the subject of mythical creatures and written in many different mediums but, nearest and dearest to her heart, thousands of articles for OnMilwaukee.

Molly is a regular contributor to FOX6 News and numerous radio stations as well as the co-host of "Dandelions: A Podcast For Women.” She's received five Milwaukee Press Club Awards, served as the Pfister Narrator and is the Wisconsin State Fair’s Celebrity Cream Puff Eating Champion of 2019.
