When Chicago musician Ted Wulfers got fired from last night performance at Friday's Front Row Grill inside Miller Park, it wasn't because he was a bad singer. In fact, he's such a good singer that he's been invited to sing on multiple occasions in Milwaukee, including having a go at the national anthem earlier this season.

So why would Milwaukee can the guy on its big night?

He's a Cubs fan. Or, at least that's the impression Brewers fans get when sings Steve Goodman's "Go Cubs Go" to a crowd of disappointed Milwaukeeans.

The last time Wulfers appeared at Miller Park, he decided to do just that, singing the Cubs' fan song after a Chicago victory over the Brewers.

The locals, of course, weren't charmed and, apparently, unforgiving. Wulfers was "uninvited" to Sunday night's game last week, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Julie Lawrence Special to OnMilwaukee.com

OnMilwaukee.com staff writer Julie Lawrence grew up in Wauwatosa and has lived her whole life in the Milwaukee area.

As any “word nerd” can attest, you never know when inspiration will strike, so from a very early age Julie has rarely been seen sans pen and little notebook. At the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee it seemed only natural that she major in journalism. When OnMilwaukee.com offered her an avenue to combine her writing and the city she knows and loves in late 2004, she knew it was meant to be. Around the office, she answers to a plethora of nicknames, including “Lar,” (short for “Larry,” which is short for “Lawrence”) as well as the mysteriously-sourced “Bill Murray.”
