There's still a lot of season left for the Milwaukee Bucks, and all is not lost. But, national media are beginning to pay special attention to the status of Bucks General Manager Larry Harris. So notes Adrian Wojnarowski, NBA columnist for Yahoo! Sports, who also lists the Bucks at No. 3 on his five most disappointing NBA teams list.
Wojnarowski, in his Jan. 3 column, writes, "For now, Bucks officials have told others in the league that communication between Kohl and Harris has become scarce. They even suggest that Kohl believes his GM oversold him on the talents of Yi, although most fair-minded executives and coaches have been impressed with the Chinese rookie’s potential. Larry Krystkowiak was a Kohl favorite and could survive an initial management purge, but nothing about him suggests long-term solution."
He continues, saying that if Harris is fired, two big names are waiting in owner Sen. Kohl's wings. Wojnarowski, who also is the author of "The Miracle of St. Anthony: A Season with Coach Bob Hurley and Basketball's Most Improbable Dynasty," writes, "If Harris goes, the belief is that Kohl would turn to ex-Sonics GM, Rick Sund, who started his player personnel career in Milwaukee. A source familiar with Kohl’s thinking believes that Doug Collins is on his radar for the top basketball executive’s job, but doubts the owner would pay what’s necessary to lure him out of television."
After another humiliating loss Friday night, big Bucks changes just might be in the works in the very near future.
