Robin Yount won't be back in the Brewers' dugout next season.

Yount, who spent last season as bench coach for manager Ned Yost, informed general manager Doug Melvin today that he will not return to the team in 2007.

"This was a very difficult decision for me," Yount said in a statement released by the club. "I have such a passion for the job and I did not want to shortchange the club by not being able to fully commit to the position.  The decision came down to devoting more time to my family."

General manager Doug Melvin made the announcement. "I completely understand and respect Robin’s decision," Melvin said. "He was very helpful to our organization and to our young players.  His contributions were greatly appreciated and will be missed."

The Brewers are looking for a a first base coach as well as Yount's replacement. The team hired Jim Skaalen to replace Butch Wynegar.
