If you've lived in Milwaukee for any significant amount of time, you know that too many things just take a "Milwaukee minute" to get done. This can be good because it encourages solid decision-making but many times it suppresses change and innovation. Thankfully, things and times are changing in Milwaukee.
The powers that be in town have finally realized the importance that the "younger" generation has on our city's ability to grow, shine and prosper.
YPM (Young Professionals of Milwaukee), a new networking and social group proudly supported by OnMilwaukee.com, is poised to help organize and promote our city's younger generation like no other group has been able to in the past.
Business today is about people, as it always has been. Long known as a wonderful place to raise a family and settle down, metro Milwaukee also is a great place to grow and start a career. Really it is. Look at what's happening in our greater downtown area. It's becoming more and more vibrant everyday, and in turn Milwaukee is becoming a more attractive place for young professionals.
In order to bring more awareness to Milwaukee's growing young professionals' scene, the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce (MMAC) with the support of OnMilwaukee.com has created Young Professionals of Milwaukee (YPM). A group dedicated to showing that our city has what it takes to meet the needs of the 20 and 30 somethings, YPM will connect fast trackers who are growing professionally with peers who share similar challenges and ambitions. Regularly scheduled events will provide members with the opportunity to get up-close-and-personal with business and community leaders. Unique meeting locations will introduce young professionals to the city's best traditions and trendy settings.
YPM's first event will feature Ron Lieber, senior writer for Fast Company magazine. Fast Company has become one of the premier business magazines in the country and its staff has its collective finger on the pulse of what's now and what's next.
