The votes are in and the winners have been selected for OnMilwaukee's Best: Eat & Drink, 2007. The results of this readers' poll, including an editors' pick, are available in this series of articles that run all month long in the Bars and Clubs section of OnMilwaukee.com.

The Wicked Hop might just be the perfect spot for a Downtown happy hour. In the warm months, there's plenty of outdoor seating under the huge metal awning and plenty of people-watching, yet, at 345 N. Broadway, it's off the trodden path of Water Street enough to still feel calm and relaxing after a long day at the office.

The prices ain't bad, either. Happy hour, Monday through Thursday, from 3 to 7 p.m., features $1 off all bee, rail mix drinks, and $5 glasses of wine.

With a vast menu of both pub food and upscale items, it's a nice place to grab a meal on the weekends, and with the help of the adjoining Jackalope Lounge, it's good for some live music, as well.

Julie Lawrence Special to OnMilwaukee.com

OnMilwaukee.com staff writer Julie Lawrence grew up in Wauwatosa and has lived her whole life in the Milwaukee area.

As any “word nerd” can attest, you never know when inspiration will strike, so from a very early age Julie has rarely been seen sans pen and little notebook. At the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee it seemed only natural that she major in journalism. When OnMilwaukee.com offered her an avenue to combine her writing and the city she knows and loves in late 2004, she knew it was meant to be. Around the office, she answers to a plethora of nicknames, including “Lar,” (short for “Larry,” which is short for “Lawrence”) as well as the mysteriously-sourced “Bill Murray.”
