By the end of May, Marcos Ramos-Garcia plans to open a new bar in the longtime Monkey Bar space (and, briefly, more recently, Mezcal Tavern) at 1619 S. 1st St. The concept is a "world lounge" called Points View Boite ("Boite" is French for "lounge") that will offer different music every night from regions around the globe.

"We are still working on what types of music will be on which nights, but we know so far French, Jamaican and Latin culture will be part of it," says Ramos-Garcia, a professional salsa and bachata dancer who plans large-scale events through his business, Werk MKE.

The music will be provided by DJs, but down the road, Garcia says he may apply for a cabaret license for live music. Food service is also on his wish list for the future.

"We want to broaden peoples’ horizons and keep them moving," says Ramos-Garcia.
