Snuggle up with some holiday cheer as OnMilwaukee shares stories of everything merry and bright in the spirit of the season.
Brought to you by Noel Indoor Light Park & Christmas Market and MillerCoors.
Everyone knows the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear ... but hanging out at a holiday-themed pop-up bar is a very close second. And thankfully, you'll be able to do exactly that this festive season as Splash Studio will transform into an "Elf"-themed pop-up bar.
Opening Friday, Nov. 29 and running through Sunday, Dec. 29, the East Side painting bar will turn into "Elf Studio," featuring a sleigh full of festive crafts to create – including Buddy the Elf wreaths, sassy cross-stitch designs and holiday variations on Splash Studio's canvas and wood art projects.
That's far from all the festive cheer coming from "Elf Studio," as the pop-up will also serve up a collection of photo ops and eccentric holiday decorations inspired by the 2003 Will Ferrell Christmas movie classic, as well as a menu of cocktails including the "He's an Angry Elf," "World's Best Coffee," "Beer and a Buddy" specials and shots with buddy every Friday and Saturday night at 10:30 p.m.
To help soak up those holly jolly libations, "Elf Studio" will also cook up some tasty snacks like Son of a Nutcracker nuts, Pop Tart pastries and Buddy's breakfast cake, courtesy of The Cake Lady. (Unfortunately there's no Buddy's breakfast pasta, but I don't think any restaurants or establishments are legally allowed to due to the amount of sugar, chocolate and bad taste required.)
Inside this special month-long event will be additional bonus celebrations, including a Beef and Cheese after party during the Santa Rampage on Saturday, Dec. 7 as well as a "Spread Christmas Cheer For All To Hear" holiday sing-along fundraiser with First Stage Children's Theater on Saturday, Dec. 14.
"Elf Studio" will be open on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4-11 p.m., Fridays from 4 p.m. until midnight, Saturdays from noon until midnight and Sundays from noon until 4 p.m., with extended hours planned for Sunday, Dec. 22 and Monday, Dec. 23. Children with a parent or guardian are welcome at all times – save for Fridays and Saturdays after 5 p.m., when only those 16 and older are allowed. Reservations are not available, but guests can call ahead to be placed on the waiting list for a project space.

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
