If you find yourself in the city of West Allis, you don't have to stumble around too much before you find a bar, from classic taverns like Cap'n Nick's to spanking new music venues like Jack Rabbit Slim's.
With so many options, it's becoming increasingly more difficult to stereotype Stallis. The changing demographic of residents and the ever-growing entertainment options are morphing it into a less predictable part of the area.
Here are many of the West Allis drinking spots, but chime in with any of your favorites that haven't yet made the list.

Benno's opened its current location in 1989 and was a pioneer in the craft beer bar scene. Today, Benno's offers more than 40 beers on tap served in pints or to-go growlers. Benno's is also known for its wings, build-your-own-sandwiches and Friday night fish fry.

This bar and restaurant is the "last bar in West Allis" (it's near the western city line), according to co-owner Frank Zoborowski. In 2015, The Monkey introduced new beer and menu options, with an emphasis on fresh, local products.

New to the West Allis scene, Braun's offers live music along with a variety of food and drink specials including $1 tacos on Tuesdays, karaoke on Wednesdays, Ladies' Night on Thursdays and a Friday night fish fry.

Established in 2003, this neighborhood bar was named after the owner's dog. Only about 20 people can comfortably fit in this place that features a unique, completely round bar. Also, a famous underground phrase used within the West Side bartender community is "Nick's at 6," because Capt'n Nick's opens at 6 a.m. every morning.

Dicken's Grille is a neighborhood bar with a large sandwich menu, appetizers, homemade pizzas and a Friday night fish fry. It's also a popular destination for sports fans to watch games on the numerous HDTVs.

Fred Werner bought the former Mitten's in 2002 after they divided his union at his machinist job which put him out of work. He got into the bar business thinking it would be easy. Also, at the time, he thought he was too old to get hired and too young to retire. Fred's offers a very comfortable, "home-y" environment.

This friendly little neighborhood bar has undergone major remodeling since the many, many days of being Jession's Needle Inn West. Beautiful wooden booths grace the room outside the bar area and are perfect for some nice, private, conversation or for listening to the occasional live music.
Paulie's Field Trip

Paul and Kristine Budiac opened Paulie's Pub and Eatery and nine years later to the day – in June 2013 – the couple opened Paulie's Field Trip right down the street. Paulie's Field Trip is much smaller – cozier, if you will – with the intention of offering the look and feel of a mellow Up North-type tavern.

Paulie's is possibly West Allis' answer to Water Street, featuring dozens of beers on tap and many daily specials on beer and food. Paulie's fun fact: Paulie's sells more Tuaca (Italian liqueur flavored with vanilla and citrus) than anywhere else is Wisconsin.
