This afternoon, the Cali-Mex taco restaurant BelAir Cantina announced that it will open the doors on a new location in the Drexel Town Square development in Oak Creek. The new location marks its fourth in the area, in addition to its original spot on Water Street and two others: on Downer Avenue and in Wauwatosa.

The new restaurant will be located across from the $162 million redeveloped square at the corner of Drexel and Howell Avenues. The new BelAir, projected to be designed in a similar style to its other three locations plus an outdoor patio, will serve as an anchor to one of two mixed-use buildings in the area, making up 62 apartment homes and 33,000 square feet of retail space.

"Our number one goal was to land a branded local restaurant group on Main Street," said Sean Phelan of Phelan Development in a press release. "We couldn’t ask for a better fit. BelAir’s fresh concept to food and design and their creative approach to outdoor seating make them the ideal retailer to anchor Main Street and the square."

"Since opening our first store on the Eastside in 2005, we have stayed true to our concept of fresh food in a fun, inviting atmosphere," said BelAir Cantina co-owner Leslie Montemurro.

"Looking at new locations, Oak Creek’s plans for Drexel Town Square matches that bold style — and most importantly aligns with our mission to bring people together. We are very excited to bring our unique flavor to our friends in  Oak Creek in Summer 2016."

Construction on the new location is set to begin later this summer.
