Season's eatings! The weather may be getting colder, but Dining Month on OnMilwaukee is just cooking up, dishing out your winning picks in this year's Best of Dining poll. Dining Month is brought to you by Fein Brothers, your premier food service equipment and supply dealer in Wisconsin since 1929. Dandan

It only took two years, but Dandan has already taken over the best Chinese category in our best of dining poll. Last year – the first for the Third Ward hotspot, opening just last summer in the former Tulip location – the newcomer won over the competition in its inaugural bout, and now, in year two, the love has clearly not faded for Chefs Daniel Jacobs and Dan Van Rite's unique spins on Chinese and Asian inspired dishes.

Longtime winner Emperor of China claimed a respectable silver medal, while No. 1 Chinese in Bay View, Jing's – the OnMilwaukee editors' pick – and Emperor's Kitchen wrapped up the rest of the top five.

Runners up:
2. Emperor of China
3. No. 1 Chinese (Bay View)
4. Jing's
5. Emperor's Kitchen

OnMilwaukee editors' pick: Jing's

Lori Fredrich's pick: Dandan
While Jing’s will always have a place in my heart, I’m giving my "Best Chinese" medal to Dandan. At this time last year, the restaurant was still getting its feet wet after a summer opening. And there were hiccups. But, thanks to repeat visits over the course of the last year, it’s grown to be a spot with dishes that I crave. That includes excellent dumplings, spicy dishes like chicken wings (so good!), flavorful cumin lamb and comfort food options like the egg foo young. My one regret is that I’ve been negligent in pre-ordering the Peking duck, a dish that I plan to seek out (and relish) as soon as I’m able. I hear it’s a knockout.
