It's time for Dining Month, presented by Deer District and its spooky Halloween-themed alter ego, Fear District. Throughout the month of October, we'll be serving up fun and fascinating content about all things food. The signature dish, however, is our 2019 Best of Dining poll, with winners getting dished out all month long. Get hungry, Milwaukee!

BelAir Cantina

What better way to celebrate National Taco Day than by announcing Milwaukee's choice for the best tacos in the city? Well, by eating tacos – but this is a close second!

And speaking of seconds, this is just the second year of this category – yet there's still been just one winner: BelAir Cantina, the popular local taco chain that took Milwaukee by storm just less than a decade ago and hasn't let up since, opening six locations across Milwaukee and Madison as well as claiming the title of top taco from voters yet again.

Has it really been just a decade of BelAir's tasty tacos, refreshing margs and wallet-friendly deal days? It's a compliment to BelAir that it's felt like a part of the Brew City dining scene for longer.

Cafe Corazon snagged second place from voters, while Laughing Taco should be all smiles with a strong third place finish. Mazorca and Taqueria Buenavista – both making big moves this past year, with the former moving into the Zocalo food truck park and the latter launching a new restaurant and banquet hall on the South Side – rounded out the rest of the taco-rific top five.

As for OnMilwaukee editors and their resident queen of cuisine, Lori Fredrich, they all united around Mazorca as their top taco. 

But that's enough talking about tacos: Let's celebrate this unofficial holiday and eat!
