Here's some dining news to make your heart flutter: Cafe Corazon said today that it will open a new location at the upcoming Mequon Public Market at Spur 16.
The newly announced venue will be Corazon's third location, joining the Mexican restaurant's original Riverwest restaurant – which opened in 2009 – and its follow-up Bay View hot spot, introduced fittingly on Valentine's Day of 2016.
"We are very excited to have been invited to be part of the Mequon Public Market and believe this project is going to be go great for the community," said Corazon co-owner Wendy Mireles, in a press release.
"I am so excited about the incredible group of restaurants that have come together to be a part of the Mequon Public Market at Spur 16. Café Corazon is the perfect addition to this group and our community," said Jenni Vetter, chief operating officer at Shaffer Development, the group behind the new Mequon venue, in the release. "The Market is now 100 percent committed for all available spaces within the 10,000-square-foot of this historic building.
"Each restaurant represents the best of what the Milwaukee food scene has to offer. I’m so happy to be a part of bringing these businesses to the North Shore."
According to Shaffer Development owner Cindy Shaffer, the commercial buildings of the Mequon Public Market – found at 6300 W. Mequon Rd. – are expected to open this fall, with Corazon's fellow locally born tenants including Beans & Barley, Anodyne Coffee Roasting and Purple Door Ice Cream.

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
