Season's eatings! The weather may be getting colder, but Dining Month on OnMilwaukee is just cooking up, dishing out your winning picks in this year's Best of Dining poll. There’s a new concept moving into the short-lived Matador Taco & Tequila Bar space at 1110 N. Old World Third Street.
The Who’s on Third Group has acquired the space and will re-open the venue as Cantina on Friday, Oct. 20.
According to Bobby Wiltgen, managing partner of Who’s on Third and Cantina, the new bar and restaurant will offer an expanded Tex-Mex menu featuring tacos, burritos, fajitas and loaded nachos, along with a complementary cocktail program.
The chef for Cantina will be Zach Zarling of Who’s on Third. Meanwhile, partner Jack Roman will serve as general manager for the new venue, where he notes there will be an emphasis on exceptional customer service.
"Old World Third Street has been a vibrant and rising entertainment street," says Wiltgen. "With the new Bucks arena and all of the development downtown, we’re excited to be in the center of it all. Who’s on Third has always focused on creating an excellent customer experience. Cantina will have that same focus."
As we reported in August, Wiltgen and Who’s on Third are also in the process of remodeling the former Giovanni’s space at 1033 N. Old World Third St., in preparation to open the Oak Barrel Public House. The venue is expected to open in December of this year.
