The new Stone Creek Cafe at 7954 Harwood Ave. in Wauwatosa officially opened its doors today. And when we arrived early this afternoon, the cafe was alive with folks getting their first peek at the new coffee shop.
The project, which has been in the works for nearly two years, included the restoration of the 9,500-square foot brick building just west of 84th Street which had been a revolving door for small retailers for nearly 30 years.
During renovation, the building was transformed with beautiful modern design that now houses the cafe along with Power Cycle, 9Round Fitness Center and the Harwood Veterinary Hospital.
Inside, the cafe sports plenty of windows, giving it a bright modern feel.
Like its other locations, the Harwood cafe offers a full menu of coffee and espresso drinks, along with tea, juices and a variety of grab and go food items including pastry, bagels, oatmeal, granola cookies and snacks.
Like its other cafes, the Harwood location exhibits an industrial chic vibe with mixed metals and wood. Seating areas are well equipped with outlets for electronic devices. Meanwhile, a garage door within the cafe functions as a built-in partition, allowing eastern seating area to be closed off from the cafe for private events and the like.
There's even a coloring area equipped with paper and coloring implements for the kids.
There are also a few fun mysteries within the cafe. Take for instance, the tiny Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader exchanging swipes with their light sabers on the rocks of Tatooine.
There is also a goldfish in a small aquarium and a friendly ladybug resting upon a rock in a planter filled with succulents.
There's plenty of parking on the east and north sides of the cafe, and an outdoor patio allows open air enjoyment of one’s favorite latte.
