If all goes well, a new breakfast and lunch restaurant is slated to open soon at the Mayfair Collection, 11250 W. Burleigh St.

Golden Nest Pancakes & Cafe is the name of the proposed restaurant, which will be reviewed for issuance of a liquor license by the City of Wauwatosa Government Affairs Committee on Tuesday, Jan. 7.

Golden Nest, which is currently under construction in the freestanding building adjacent to the plaza and just to the Southwest of the new Synergy Apartments, will be operated by Sklkim Saliu, an experienced operator who also owns the Sunview Restaurant at 827 Park Ave. in Beaver Dam.

The restaurant is expected to seat just under 160 customers in a rustic modern environment that Saliu says incorporates white and gold with pops of blue.

"We have some beautiful custom made chandeliers coming in this week from Spain," says Saliu. "It's going to be a very unique vibe for the area, not like anything else."

He notes that the restaurant will offer a menu of both classic and modern breakfast and lunch favorites. All options, he says, will be made with high quality ingredients and will include both organic and gluten-free items along with a full coffee bar.

If all goes well and the appropriate liquor licensure is granted, the restaurant will also offer brunch drinks, including mimosas and bloody marys.

Currently, Saliu says he expects the restaurant to open sometime in early to mid-February.
