Looks like you'll have to suppress your local ice cream cravings for a couple of weeks, or at least redirect them a bit. The Purple Door Ice Cream scoop shop at 205 S. 2nd St. is taking a two-week hiatus.

The shop is closed Jan. 16 through Jan. 31 and will reopen on Feb. 1.

In the meantime, you can get your Purple Door fix by picking up pints of its ice cream at a number of local grocery stores including Glorioso's, Groppi's, Outpost Natural Foods Cooperative, Metro Markets and Sendik's stores. For a complete list, visit purpledooricecream.com.
