Purple Door Ice Cream first introduced Malort ice cream in 2020, and as of this week, it's once again available at both the Walker's Point and the Mequon location –  until it runs out.

"We'll definitely have it through the weekend, but when it's gone it's gone," says Purple Door co-owner, Lauren Schultz.

Purple Door has a history of mixing booze into their extraordinary frozen dairy before with popular flavors like Whiskey, Wisconsin Old Fashioned and Beer and Pretzels. But Malort?

Malort, which has been made in Chicago since 1930, is a controversial tasting spirit with an incredibly bitter taste. Customers in the Purple Door thread (above) describe it as tasting like "licorice mixed with schadenfreude" and "putrid septic waste."

And yet, other folks absolutely love it.

Whether it sounds delicious or disgusting, it's already creating buzz. So get in on the conversation, Milwaukee, but lick with caution.
