We are back looking for the best hidden coffee shop in the city, and this week we found one that wasn’t even on my radar. The place was called MKEing Coffee, at Sharehouse Goods, located on 55th Street and North Avenue.

Let me first say a little bit about Sharehouse Goods, because I didn’t even know this was a thing but it’s pretty awesome.

Its purpose is urban consigning and recycling. Sharehouse receives excess goods that people or organizations are willing to share, and then sell it online or at the store.

The Sharehouse Goods storefront is also home to the coffee shop, MKEing Coffee.

This is a fantastic example of prioritizing a cafe as a gathering space. At this cafe you will find the walls stacked with books, movies and records, but it still feels open and not the least bit cluttered. The only thing better than a great coffee shop is turning a cafe into a space that brings community together.

The staff was friendly, it was a quiet, peaceful atmosphere, and the coffee ... the coffee was great.

This is the type of place that takes its time, and it showed in the coffee we drank. Spoken by a friend who ordered a cappuccino, "This is how a cappuccino is properly made."

Furthermore, perhaps the best news of all, MKEing serves Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream. I’m not sure it gets much better than that; my heart beats for this Wisconsin ice cream company.

I have nothing but great things to say about this place; I love the mission, love the atmosphere, love the coffee. I will definitely be back for another visit soon.
