What's old is new again. Bayshore Town Center originally opened as an outdoor mall in 1954 before enclosing in 1974 and, these days, the enclosed mall is now gone as Bayshore has fully returned the focus to the fresh air.
And as more changes come to the Glendale mixed-use shopping center – including a new Target store and a Total Wine – Bayshore is bringing the music out into the open, too, with its Sounds of Summer concert series.
The free series kicked off Friday, July 10 with The Five Card Studs and Ryan McIntyre in the newly renovated The Yard right in the heart of the town center.
This year, The Yard will add a beer garden, hosted by Wisconsin Brewers Guild, on through Aug. 29, with a variety of Wisconsin-made craft beers, seltzers and non-alcoholic beverages.
Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome, but no pets please.
According to a statement, "Bayshore supports the practice of social distancing for guests and masks are encouraged but not mandated. Social distancing signage and hand sanitizer units are in public restrooms, and tables and public seating areas are positioned for safe social distancing in the open-air community environment."

Bayshore Family Flicks Series
In addition to the Sounds of Summer concert series, Bayshore is welcoming kids of all ages to enjoy the new free Family Flicks movie series playing from the LED screen facing The Yard. The movie showings will be held on Wednesday evenings (5 to 7 p.m.) from Aug. 5 through Aug. 26. Guests are advised to bring lawn chairs and blankets as limited seating is available. The lineup includes "Toy Story 4," "Frozen II," "The Secret Life of Pets 2" and "The Lion King." Event details are available at thebayshorelife.com/events.

Bayshore Burn Boot Camp
Bayshore and ATHLETA have partnered with Burn Boot Camp of Whitefish Bay to host free fitness classes in The Yard. The 45-minute boot camp classes are held on Thursday evenings (5:30 to 6:30 p.m.) and Saturday mornings (9 to 10 a.m.) now through Aug. 20. Registration is required to ensure social distancing and can be found at thebayshorelife.com/events.
Bayshore Blood Drive
Bayshore is once again partnering with Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin to host an on-site blood drive on Thursday, Aug. 6 from 12 p.m.to 5 p.m. and Friday, Aug. 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
As life-saving donations are desperately needed, Bayshore has worked closely with the Versiti team to ensure a safe and accessible location for the drive, which will take place at 5689 N. Bayshore Dr., Glendale (near The Yard). Additionally, Versiti continues to implement social distancing and disinfecting procedures in all donor centers and mobile donation units to provide a safe donation experience for all guests.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., where he lived until he was 17, Bobby received his BA-Mass Communications from UWM in 1989 and has lived in Walker's Point, Bay View, Enderis Park, South Milwaukee and on the East Side.
He has published three non-fiction books in Italy – including one about an event in Milwaukee history, which was published in the U.S. in autumn 2010. Four more books, all about Milwaukee, have been published by The History Press.
With his most recent band, The Yell Leaders, Bobby released four LPs and had a songs featured in episodes of TV's "Party of Five" and "Dawson's Creek," and films in Japan, South America and the U.S. The Yell Leaders were named the best unsigned band in their region by VH-1 as part of its Rock Across America 1998 Tour. Most recently, the band contributed tracks to a UK vinyl/CD tribute to the Redskins and collaborated on a track with Italian novelist Enrico Remmert.
He's produced three installments of the "OMCD" series of local music compilations for OnMilwaukee.com and in 2007 produced a CD of Italian music and poetry.
In 2005, he was awarded the City of Asti's (Italy) Journalism Prize for his work focusing on that area. He has also won awards from the Milwaukee Press Club.
He has be heard on 88Nine Radio Milwaukee talking about his "Urban Spelunking" series of stories, in that station's most popular podcast.
