Last week after much consideration, Steph Davies sold the MilwaukeeHome brand to Daniel Wickman, the owner of HH Clothing Co. (Harley's), 244 N. Water St.

Davies, who owns and operates The Waxwing – a shop on Milwaukee's East Side that sells the handmade work from 350 local and national artists – purchased MilwaukeeHome from Melissa Thornton in late 2018. She opened a MilwaukeeHome shop in Walker's Point in early 2019.

However, as John Lennon fans know, "life is what happens when you're busy making other plans." Such was the case for Davies, who joyfully welcomed her third child into the world, but also lost her grandmother around the same time. Both experiences deeply affected her and illuminated her purpose, passions and limitations.

Coincidentally, HH Clothing Co. started selling MilwaukeeHome's locally-famous Ts right before the holidays, and when Davies announced she was closing the MilwaukeeHome store, they reached out and asked to partner with her.

"My original plan was to just scale down and operate the business out of The Waxwing, but when approached I realized this was a new option that would allow the brand to grow and really reach its full potential," says Davies.

Davies will remain a creative consultant for the next year and after that HH will take on full ownership.

"I already feel relieved and a restoration of balance to have more time and energy to focus on my family, The Waxwing and my own illustrations and jewelry designs," says Davies.

C.O.O. of Harleys Co./Milwaukee Home, Jeff Brand, says the business plans to offer more new MilwaukeeHome designs in the future, along with the classic T-shirts.

"We are also going to adding other cities in Wisconsin as well as adding cities outside the state. The first city to be added to the list will be Green Bay," says Brand. "We love MilwaukeeHome. It embodies the very essence of pride the people of Milwaukee have for their home town."
