Halloween may still be two months away, but you'll want to get your horror movie watching started early this year – at least if you want to catch some classics before they're gone from Netflix in September.

The streaming service made its monthly announcement of departures, and this upcoming slate's most popular victims are almost all horror movies. The classic "The Omen" – not that garbage shot-for-shot remake from 2006 – will no longer be amongst Netflix's scream-worthy spawn. Craving Wes Craven? Well, take a stab at "A Nightmare on Elm Street" and "Scream" while you can. If you're in the mood for an underrated creepy gem, catch the late great Bill Paxton's unsettling directorial debut "Frailty" before it's killed off on the first of the month, while those who like their slit throats with a side of show tunes should snag Tim Burton's "Sweeney Todd" (arguably the director's last good movie) before it's cut from the service.

Boy, that's a pretty grim lineup of movies getting the ax in September. So how about we brighten things up with "Philomena," a recent Oscar-nominated drama about an elderly woman (Judy Dench) searching for the son she was forced to give up her son to adoption half a century ago by a cruel convent.

Huh ... that did not help. Well, how about this?

Thanks "Jackass: The Movie.: That's better – and that's also leaving Netflix in September, so get that before its final horn blows.

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
