After more than 15 years of helping Milwaukeeans get their day started on the right foot on FOX 6's WakeUp, Nicole Koglin announced today that she's leaving the station and TV news.

The morning news and "Real Milwaukee" anchor made the announcement on the morning news show on Tuesday, penning a statement on FOX 6's website as well as another post on both Instagram and Facebook.

Dear Milwaukee, I have some news to share. It has been an absolute joy and honor to wake up this great city for the past 15+ years. Now it is time for me to be with my own family when they wake up and start their day. This summer I am leaving FOX6 and saying goodbye to television news. This difficult decision weighs heavy on my heart. I adore this television station and am incredibly grateful for our loyal viewers. But this is what’s best for my family. I’m job hunting! So my next professional chapter is still very much a work in progress. Stay tuned! Thank you! Finally, you’re not getting rid of me just yet. I will stay on with the WakeUp and Real Milwaukee teams through July, gratefully soaking up every last moment of what’s been an amazing chapter in my life!

"This difficult decision weighs heavy on my heart," Koglin writes in her social media posts. "I adore this television station and am incredibly grateful for our loyal viewers. But this is what’s best for my family."

A Menomonee Falls native and UW-Madison alum, Koglin joined the FOX 6 WakeUp team in September 2004. Since then, she's been a regular fixture of local morning TV news, also anchoring FOX's morning talk show "Real Milwaukee" since 2010.

Thankfully, fans don't have to say goodbye right away as Koglin notes that she will stay onboard WakeUp and "Real Milwaukee" through July. And as for what comes after that, she writes in her Instagram post that she's currently job hunting, with her next professional step "still very much a work in progress" but "stay tuned."

Will do – and cheers to more than a decade and a half of terrific television work, as well as cheers to whatever exciting adventure comes your way next.

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
