This morning, Summerfest announced that EDM/pop duo The Chainsmokers will headline the American Family Insurance Amphitheater on July 4.

The NYC-based DJ pairing of Andrew Taggert and Alex Pall first became popular with the ironic dance floor hit "#Selfie" in 2014 and later took off with catchy hits like "Roses," "Don't Let Me Down" and, most notably, "Closer" with Halsey, which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for almost three months last year. The Chainsmokers recently released two other singles, "Paris" and "Something Just Like This" with Coldplay's Chris Martin, one of the theme songs for CBS's NCAA March Madness coverage.

These hits earned The Chainsmokers a Grammy win for Best Dance Recording ("Don't Let Me Down") and two nominations – Best Pop Duo/Group Recording and Best New Artist – at last month's awards ceremony. Meanwhile, their debut studio album, "Memories ... Do Not Open," will arrive on April 7.

Tickets for the show – as always, complete with Summerfest admission – will go on sale starting at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 31. Tickets can be purchased in person at the Summerfest box office, Ticketmaster ticket centers and Walmart stores, as well as online at Ticketmaster.com and over the phone either through the Summerfest box office, (414) 273-2600, through a live Ticketmaster agent, (800) 745-3000, or through Ticketmaster's automated ticket line, (866) 448-7849.

There will also be two ticket presales for the headliner show. The Chainsmokers will run an artist presale starting on Tuesday, March 28 at 10 a.m. and running through Thursday, March 30 at 10 p.m. Meanwhile, the Big Gig will run a presale for fans who subscribe to Summerfest's email updates and alerts, as well as follow the festival on Facebook and Twitter, running on Thursday, March 30 from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. or until the resale inventory is exhausted.

The Chainsmokers join country stars Luke Bryan and Zac Brown Band, as well as Pink, Red Hot Chili Peppers and two nights of Tom Petty as the Summerfest headliners announced so far. Stay tuned to OnMilwaukee for more concert announcements as the Big Gig draws, ahem, closer.

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
