"Joyeux Noel" is well acted and, except for the slow-moving first half, finely directed and written by Christian Carion. The premise is good and the second half of the film is enjoyable and carries a fine message. It is certainly for these reasons that the film was nominated for an Oscar as best foreign language pic.
