Nestled in between the heart of Milwaukee's East Side and the neighboring village of Shorewood, UWM's campus is nothing more than a short trip away from some of the best bars in the city.

Whether you're looking to bar-hop on the energetic North Avenue, or keep it casual at a neighborhood-style bar, the area surrounding UWM has you more than covered. Here's a guide to the places you should check out the next time you are planning your next night out.

Axel’s Inn

Cheap, affordable drinks are met with a pleasant neighborhood vibe at this long time East Side dive bar. 

Camp Bar

Just a short trip north of the UWM campus is one of Camp Bars three Milwaukee-area locations. Come for the delectable assortment of drinks, but stay for the authentic Northwoods-style decor that truly makes it feel like a Wisconsin establishment.

Champion's Pub

Champion's is a modest neighborhood bar just off of North Avenue. It's an undeniably comfy spot to have a drink at on their patio, play darts at or talk to the folks that frequent it.

Hacienda Beer Co.

Since its opening a few years ago, Hacienda has been serving up beverages in their taproom brewed from Door County. They have indoor and outdoor seating, and if you can't get enough of their delicious brews, they sell packs to take home as well.

Harry's Bar and Grill

Harry's Bar and Grill not only features a sizable beverage menu, but also some pretty fantastic food options that are sure to please any palette. It's just a short trip up Oakland Avenue from the UWM campus.

Henry's on Belleview

Henry's has been an East Side tradition since the 1980s, spanning back to its days as part of the Coffe Trader. Nowadays, its offering up daily drink specials and splendid pub foods options. 

Hooligan's Super Bar

You just cannot go wrong at Hooligan's. Whether you're coming for the largest selction of micro brews in Milwaukee, the award-winning pub food or "the best happy hour in Milwaukee," a trip to this bar makes for a great night out.

The Pharmacy Bar

Tucked within Crossroads Collective Food Hall, the Pharmacy Bar is an ode to Oriental Drugs, which occupied its space before. An appetizing array of cocktails, mocktails, wine and beer is available to enjoy at this Crossroads Collective vendor.
