Wisconsin clearly made its impact on Brit rocker Barns Courtney when he dropped by for Big Gig earlier this summer – and not just because he broke his freaking foot leaping off the Miller Lite Oasis stage.

Just in time for the Packers' first preseason game tonight, the growly rocker re-recorded a new version of his song, "Glitter and Gold," with altered lyrics and a different title (I think you can see where this is going): "Green and Gold."

Take a brief listen for yourself:

"The struggles I experienced when I lost my first record deal and the drive to succeed in the face of adversity runs parallel to the challenges in football," Barns Courtney told Packers.com. "You need the same fire in your belly to play professionally, be it in music or in sports. If I didn't feel a personal connection to the subject matter, I wouldn't write about it. I try to be as honest as possible in my lyrics. So with that in mind, I tried to find as many parallels as possible with the Packers’ world and my own."

Sadly, that means no cheesy (pun intended) references to Vince Lombardi, Bart Starr or Antonio Freeman's miracle catch, but it does mean re-writing some vaguely football-ready, tough-guy lyrics about fighting like animals and having blood in your teeth, cheering from the nosebleeds and running out of the Lambeau tunnels on the drumbeat (tunnels Courtney knows well after an apparent photoshoot there recently).

Now, if you're listening to this and thinking, "Hold on, have I heard this song before?" that's because you probably have. Seen a Miller Lite ad lately?

If you're a movie buff, you've also probably heard the song on the trailers and advertisements for the Michael Keaton McDonald's biopic "The Founder" (now on Netflix) and Matthew McConaughey's gold-digger drama "Gold" (also headed to Netflix this month).

And now you'll probably hear it a lot more as the musical charge for Green Bay's 2017 season. And considering the pantheon of corny Packers-themed songs, I'd place this "Green and Gold" cover easily on the high end – partly because they actual got Barns Courtney to record it and partly because "Glitter and Gold" is already a pretty awesome, stomping, snarly rock tune; tastefully Packer-izing it just makes it better.

Plus, Courtney definitely also performed at Lollapolooza this summer, and we don't hear any Bears-related songs coming from him. Just sayin'.

"The Packers have taken me in as their artist, so I’m taking them in as my team," Courtney told Packers.com. "That’s why gigs are so great because you really do become a part of this enormous collective. Everybody is pulling together for this one objective. I got a sense of that when I watched the videos in the Packers Hall of Fame. It’s very much the same for this team. That’s why I feel very humbled and grateful to be part of all this."

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
