Perhaps you’ve enjoyed the Doughnut Don beers made by Vennture Brew Co. in collaboration with Cranky Al’s, and quaffed the Grebe’s cruller stout over at East Troy Brewing. You can keep it all going with a beignet beer.
Crawdaddy’s on Greenfield has done a Strawberry Cognac Beignet Ale collab with West Allis’ Westalion Brewing Company.
The 7.2 percent ale is available at the West Allis Cajun, Creole and barbecue restaurant, 9427 W. Greenfield Ave., as well as at the brewery, 1825 S. 72nd. St.
“The concept of the beer relates to our dessert which are Beignets served with a fresh strawberry sauce infused with Cognac,” says Crawdaddy’s owner Troy Meyer.
“They first brewed it for a fundraising event we had last July called the Hog of all Hogs, with proceeds going to The Milwaukee Homeless Veterans Initiative. We will be have a second annual of the event this year as well in August.
The collaboration is just one of a number that Crawdaddy’s does.
“We enjoy doing collaborations,” says Meyer. “Becher Meats also makes andouille just for us seasoned to our specifications in over 10 different menu items, so kind of a collaboration. Next week we will be putting out a special menu entree collabing with Egg & Flour.
“(Egg & Flour owner) Adam (Pawlak), our chef Gaudencio Vera and myself have gotten together and put something together that we feel speaks to both of our restaurants. We will be using Egg & Flour’s pasta and combining it with a couple of our staples.”
