It's time for Dining Month, presented by Deer District and its spooky Halloween-themed alter ego, Fear District. Throughout the month of October, we'll be serving up fun and fascinating content about all things food. The signature dish, however, is our 2019 Best of Dining poll, who's winners we will dish out all month long. Get hungry, Milwaukee! 

Comet Cafe

As much as the Milwaukee dining scene changes, OnMilwaukee readers' favorite cafe remains the same, with Comet Cafe garnering your favor once again in 2019.

We're guessing it's the lure of feel-good favorites including mouth-watering meatloaf, cheesy macaroni & cheese and sandwiches like the turkenstein, the French dunk, many of which are also available on the late-night menu (served from 10 p.m. to midnight). Even better, there are plenty of tasty vegan and vegetarian selections including vegan ribs, the Buttafuoco and the always delicious artichoke melt.

Comet blasted the competition, winning to second place pick, Benji's Deli, by 140 votes. But there really aren't any losers among the runners up, which also include staples like The National Cafe along with newer hot spots like Fuel Cafe on 5th and Miss Molly's Cafe & Pastry Shop.
