The Mad Planet

For the umpteenth year in a row – honestly, we can't even keep track of how many years in a row at this point – the OnMilwaukee readers have voted The Mad Planet as the best place in Brew City to bust a move.

The brightly painted nightclub, easy to find at 533 E. Center St., has won over generations upon generations of diverse Milwaukeeans – from Baby Boomers to millennials, from punks to hipsters, and everyone in between – thanks to its equally eclectic mix of music.

That includes plenty of retro dance parties every Friday spinning the hits of the '80s and '90s, goth parties pulled straight out Berlin and into Brew City, live concerts across all genres, DJ themed music clashes and more. Plus, you never know when Coolio or Bon Iver's Justin Vernon might drop by for a performance.

Jo-Cat's Pub on Brady Street came in a very respectable second place, less than 100 votes behind the dominant dance hall. Victor's finished closely behind in third, while La Cage and Whiskey Bar wrapped up the top five. Meanwhile, the OnMilwaukee editors went with Plum Lounge as the place to pump up the jam, pump it up, while your feet are stompin' and the jam is pumpin'.

OnMilwaukee's editors' pick: Plum Lounge

Runners up:
2. Jo-Cat's Pub
3. Victor's
4. La Cage
5. Whiskey Bar
