The votes are in and the winners have been selected for OnMilwaukee's Best: Eat & Drink, 2007. The results of this readers' poll, including an editors' pick, are available in this series of articles that run all month long in the Bars and Clubs section of OnMilwaukee.com.
In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Brady Street underwent a transformation from a solid Italian neighborhood (it had been a Polish enclave) to the hub of Milwaukee's counter-culture.
It was billed then as Milwaukee's answer to Haight-Ashbury. Although an artistic vibe still permeates the area, Brady Street today is considered a trendy place to shop, eat and drink.
A number of popular bars inhabit the area on and around Brady Street and OnMilwaukee.com readers selected the Hi Hat Lounge, 1709 N. Arlington Place, as their favorite.
No surprise there.
OnMilwaukee.com readers also chose Hi Hat as their favorite lounge in the city. The competition from The Nomad World Pub, Wolski's and Trocadero was tight, but Hi Hat won out with its casually cool atmosphere, excellent food and attentive bartenders.
