Your votes are in, Milwaukee, and you have selected the winners of OnMilwaukee's Best Dining 2011. We're announcing the results of this readers' poll, including our editors' pick, in a series of articles that run all October long during Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com.
For the fifth straight year, October is Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com, presented by Concordia University. All month, we're stuffed with restaurant reviews, delectable features, chef profiles and unique articles on everything food, as well as the winners of our "Best of Dining 2011."
Milwaukee, you have a new champion.
Hooligan's four-year grasp on the title has come to an end and Cafe Hollander is your choice for the city's best bar fare.
The area's two Hollander locations, in the Tosa Village and Downer Avenue on the the East Side, have been making their way up the list for years and we're pretty sure the frites– especially the sweet potato variety – have something to do with the vote totals.
It's not just quick dishes that set Hollander apart. You'll find a good selection of burgers and "eggs all day" on the menu, as well as a popular Sunday brunch.
And of course, don't forget to wash it down with a cold beer. As the Cafe Hollander menu will tell you: bier + food = bliss.
