I finally ate lunch at Five Guys Burgers and Fries today at Bayshore, and, you know, they make a mighty fine burger. In some ways, their fries were even better, reminding me of days of yore on the boardwalk of Ocean City, Md.

Still, both colleague Bobby Tanzilo and I agreed that Kopp's doesn't have much to worry about. Despite framed accolades from foodie magazines from all over the country declaring the franchise the world's best, I gotta say: I've tasted better, right here in Milwaukee.

Not just at Kopp's, either. I like burgers from Sobelman's, AJ Bombers and others more than Five Guys -- and that's taking nothing away from its very tasty offerings.

But others have raved and raved and raved about Five Guys, which makes me wonder if Milwaukee really is the home of the world's best burger?

I guess it's possible. I've lived in a few other cities and, come to think of it, I've never have had a burger as good as what I've had in Milwaukee. However, I never thought about it until I saw all those awards at Five Guys.

Maybe, we're really beef blessed in Brew City. What do you think? Is there a burger -- anywhere -- that can top what you'll find in Milwaukee. Weigh in with a Talkback below.
