"Bar Month" at OnMilwaukee is back for another round, brought to you by Great Northern Distilling: grain to glass spirits, handmade in Wisconsin. The whole month of March, we're serving up intoxicatingly fun articles on bars and clubs – including guides, the latest trends, bar reviews, the results of our Best of Bars readers poll and more. Grab a designated driver and dive in!

According to OnMilwaukee readers, when it comes to an out-of-this-world night of dancing, drinks and fun, there's still no better spot than The Mad Planet.

The brightly painted Riverwest favorite – located at 533 E. Center St. – came away the king of the nightclubs yet again. Part of Milwaukee's love for the two decades old boogie wonderland might be its diverse crowd, ranging from punks to goths to hipsters to everyone else in between. Part of the long-lasting appeal might also be its mix of music as well – including retro dance parties every Friday, spinning the dance hits of the '80s and '90s.

Milwaukee's dancing queens and kings also love Cathedral Square's Whiskey Bar and rounded out the top three with La Cage. Brady Street favorite Jo Cat's came in fourth with Victor's – which some quippily call "victims" – rounding out the top five.

The OnMilwaukee editors chose Jo Cat's Pub – where anything goes on the 10x10-foot dance floor.
