Our readers picked The Hotel Foster as the best East Side/UWM bar for 2012. You also said it has the best decor and is the best new bar in Milwaukee.

The Hotel Foster is located in the space that once housed Live on North, Lava Bar and Grill, The Globe and The Boardwalk, but the latest reinvention of the space is the most stunning to date. The pre-Prohibition decor features antique furniture, chandeliers and stained glass.

In addition to serving wine, beer and cocktails, The Hotel Foster – which does NOT rent rooms, folks – dishes up live music, too.

Perhaps because it is in our own neighborhood and literally across the street from our offices, Von Trier gets our staff's nod because of the eclectic beer selection and wonderful outdoor patio in the summertime.

Of course our apologies go out to our other neighbors Replay, Vitucci, Cans, BBC and Hooligan's. Don't worry. We still love you, too.
