Milwaukee's Best Fries is a new category this year for OnMilwaukee.com's annual "Best Of" survey. Based on the results, it looks like our readers were just as passionate about this potato product as we were.
Hundreds of you chimed in with votes, deciding by a large margin that Saz's, 5539 W. State St., fries up the best frite in town with its famous sour cream and chive offering. It's little surprise that Saz's takes the prize, as any Milwaukeean knows a trip to Summerfest isn't complete without an order, or, at the very least, the sampler platter.
Coated in a rich sour cream and chive batter and fried to potato perfection, this local legend is unlike any other. Paired with Parmesan ranch dressing (ketchup? Please...), it's the kind of side order that many have made a meal.
Despite the trends that make, super thin, upscale pommes frites the finger food du jour, Milwaukee doesn't like to mess much with tradition. Here are some of your other favorites.
